Gayle Hatch - Basketball -2003
Coach Gayle Hatch played basketball for Northwestern during the 1960-1962 sessions. In during this time he lead the team in scoring, rebounding, and field goal percentages. During the same period of time he set a single season field goal percentage record (.577). Against Mississippi College he set a single game rebound record of 21 rebound. Coach Hatch set a single game record for field goals against Kentucky Wesleyan with 21. After NSC he was drafted by the Chicago Majors of the American Basketball League. Coach Hatch has gone on to coach 43 national weight lifting championships, his training methods have been published in the Weightlifting Encyclopedia A Guide to World Class Performance, he was National Coach of the Year 12 time, Meet Director for the 2000 U.S. Olympic Trials. Reginald Grace - Basketball 2003
Reginald Grace led the Demons to two consecutive Gulf South Conference Championships in his Junior and Senior years. he let the Demons in scoring (15.9) and rebounding (10.2) in the 73-74 season, making second team All Gulf South Conference and winning honorable mention NAIA All American recognition. Grace grabbed 25 rebounds, the No. 2 single game performance in Demon history, vs. Stephen F. Austin as a junior. He had 25 points and 12 rebounds in a first round national NAIA Tournament win over Millersville State (PA). As a senior in 74-75, Grace averaged 9.9 points and 8.4 rebounds, snagging 21 rebound vs. Northeast LA and 17 in a NAIA District 30 Tournament at Alcorn State. He finished his career as the ninth ranked shooter in school history, hitting 49.7 percent of his shots, and ranked 5th all time in rebounding with 709, a 9.5 average. Grace was appointed to the state Office of Youth Development within the Department of Public Safety and Corrections in 1993. He is now the Assistant Administrator in the Louisiana Department of Education. Reginald is active in community and civic organizations and is a mentor for at-risk youth.
